Sipcot Industrial Parks

State Industries Promotion Corporation of Tamil Nadu (SIPCOT) a state owned PSU established in the year 1971, has been pioneer in promotion of industrial growth in the State in the past four decades, by establishing and maintaining Industrial Complexes/Parks in strategic locations for immediate allotment of land to the needy entrepreneurs. The Industrial Complexes are located on National Highway with good connectivity and are very eco-friendly. SIPCOT Industrial Complexes are provided with major infrastructure facilities such as international standard roads, water supply, 24×7 power supply from State Distributor TNEB, storm water drain, street lights, avenue trees and other amenities.

These Complexes are spread over an extent of 31,300 acres in various places across Tamil Nadu. So far 19,843 acres of land has been allotted to 2,275 industrial units, paving way for capital investment of Rs.1.11 lakh crores thereby generated employment to 6 lakh persons. They house Multinational companies, Major industries, Medium & Small scale industries to have easy access for tier II & III vendors.

SIPCOT has so far developed in 20 Industrial Complexes in 12 districts viz.

  • Kancheepuram District –Irungattukottai, Sriperumbudur, Oragadam, Pillaipakkam, Siruseri, Vallam-Vadagal,
  • Tiruvallur District – Gummidipoondi, Thervoykandigai & Mappedu,
  • Thiruvannamalai District – Cheyyar,
  • Vellore District – Ranipet,
  • Krishnagiri District – Hosur, Bargur,
  • Sivagangai District – Manamadurai,
  • Dindigul District – Nilakottai,
  • Pudukkottai District – Pudukkottai,
  • Cuddalore district – Cuddalore,
  • Thoothukudi District – Thoothukudi,
  • Tirunelveli District – Gangaikondan,
  • Erode District – Perundurai.

Tamil Nadu has emerged as one of top 10 Global Automobile Manufacturing Hubs, has the largest automotive production capacity in India. Most of the renowned automobile major units such as Hyundai, Daimler, Renault Nissan have their manufacturing units in SIPCOT Industrial Parks at Sriperumbudur of Kancheepuram District. Chennai is recognized as a Prime Export Hub for automobile in South Asia and it is therefore called as “Detroit of India”.

Chennai is the most preferred destination for IT and ITES, Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) and Knowledge Process Outsourcing (KPO). SIPCOT Information Technology Park, Siruseri, Chennai is the India’s largest IT park. Major IT companies like TCS, Syntel, Xansa, Pollaris, Patni computers etc. are functioning in this Park.

To boost exports in the state, SIPCOT has also established product specific Special Economic Zones (six) within the developed SIPCOT Industrial Parks at Sriperumbudur, Oragadam, Bargur, Perundurai, Ranipet & Gangaikondan.

The Hon’ble Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu has announced for establishment of new Industrial Parks in nine southern districts, with a view to boost industrial development coupled with employment generation besides extending concessions like 50% subsidized plot cost, etc. SIPCOT is acquiring land in southern districts viz. Ramanathapuram, Sivagangai, Pudukkottai, Dindigul, Theni, Virudhunagar, Thoothukudi, Tiruneveli & Kanniyakumari over an extent of about 20,650 acres.

As per the Vision Tamil Nadu 2023, SIPCOT has constituted a New Public Limited Company viz. Madurai Thoothukudi Industrial Corridor Development Corporation Ltd. (presently 100% subsidiary of SIPCOT) which will exclusively look after the development of the southern districts.

SIPCOT has created Skill Development Centre (SDC) to upgrade the skills of the youth in and around the industrial estates to suit the industrial requirements. The SDCs with facilities like class room, library, laboratory room, computer room, conference hall, kitchen/dining room are available in Oragadam & Thervoykandigai.

SIPCOT has constructed dormitory buildings to accommodate men and women industrial workers at affordable rates. These are already functioning in Sriperumbudur & Irungattukottai and similar facility will be coming up at Tirupur.
