Apollo tyres originally proposed to make an investment of Rs 450 to 520 Crores in Tamil Nadu in 2006 for manufacturing Passenger Car Radial Tyres (PCR) and Truck and Bus Radial Tyres (TBR).
Subsequently when Apollo tyres decided to increase the investment to Rs 2100 Crores in 2009 to take advantage of increased market both in India and abroad, Tamil Nadu Government stepped in and came forward to provide support in the form of creation of adequate infrastructures by way of supply of adequate water and uninterrupted power supply for setting up the Chennai facility, besides providing structured package of assistance like refund of net VAT output, grant of capital subsidy to the tune of Rs2.25 crores and environment protection, Infrastructure subsidy and electricity tax exemption.
Apollo tyres has been able to successfully set up its Chennai plant with the able guidance provided by the Tamil Nadu Government through various departments like SIPCOT , TANGEDCO, Industrial Safety & Health, TNPCB, Fire & Rescue Services Department etc.
Apollo tyres is planning to make further investment in the Chennai plant to the tune of 1300 Crores for expansion in the TBR segment, keeping in view the continued support of Tamil Nadu Government and other various departments.Watch video
